2402 Foundation Participated in Donbas Media Forum 2024: VR Training and Support for Journalists
2402 Foundation presented innovative VR training and support programs for journalists working in combat zones at the Donbas Media Forum. Participants joined a masterclass on countering online threats and learned about charitable initiatives supporting media professionals on the frontlines.
On October 18, as part of the Donbas Media Forum conference, a series of events focused on strengthening the safety and support of Ukrainian journalists took place. The forum began with 2402 Foundation’s powerful initiative – “Minutes of Support,” dedicated to media professionals who document frontline events daily.
The video sequence was dedicated to honoring journalists’ courage and calling for fundraising to support the rehabilitation of wounded colleagues. You can also support the “First Aid Kits for Ukrainian Journalists” campaign to provide protective equipment for media workers operating in dangerous conditions.
The forum program continued with an intensive masterclass “How Media Professionals Can Counter Online Violence,” implemented in partnership with Voices of Ukraine. Participants received practical tools for protection against digital threats and countering targeted campaigns. Special attention was paid to analyzing real cases of hate attacks and methods of their prevention.
The day’s technological breakthrough was an innovative training using VR technologies. Journalists had the opportunity to practice cybersecurity skills in a virtual space that closely resembles real working conditions. Participants went through two intensive scenarios: countering complex digital attacks and detecting covert surveillance.
Through this comprehensive approach, 2402 Foundation is creating a new paradigm for protecting media workers during wartime. The initiatives presented at the forum form a holistic support system: from improving physical safety through providing first aid kits to psychological assistance and developing digital resilience.
