THE 2402 Foundation presents VR safety training program in Kyiv

ON MARCH 1 AND 2, THE 2402 FOUNDATION WILL CONDUCT A TEST DRIVE OF IMMERSIVE SAFETY TRAINING IN KYIV.

This hands-on training will focus on threats, risks and security situations typical for those
who work in war zones.

The VR content was developed by the 2402 Foundation's partners, New York based company Head Set Immersive along with certified safety, medical, and psychological first aid specialists using their frontline experience.

The VR safety program is based on two main scenarios: civil unrest and digital security. They allow participants to experience work during violent demonstrations and learn how to protect information in conditions of real threat and psychological pressure.

VR modules are designed to minimize the risks of a person losing control or being unable to protect him/herself in a critical situation in real life. Also, it gives participants instruments to understand the individual's strengths and weaknesses, and a better understanding of situational awareness, threat recognition and self-control under pressure.

"We got a unique opportunity to use the most modern technologies in safety training. VR is a very effective way of getting skills that you can immediately apply in hostile environments," says Kateryna Sergatskova, co-founder and executive director of the 2402 Foundation.

REGISTRATION

The VR safety training program is supported by the international funds Justice for Journalists and
Digital Defenders.

In July 2023, the 2402 Foundation, together with Headset Immersive and VICE Media, held the first interactive VR training for Ukrainian journalists in Lviv. The first 40 participants already had the opportunity to get a unique experience.
