WE TEACH HOW TO SURVIVE IN A HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT AND NOT GIVE UP IN CRITICAL SITUATIONS
HOW WE DO IT

NEWS OF THE FOUNDATION 2402

    WHAT WE DO
2402 Foundation is a non-profit initiative that develops safety culture in Ukraine by providing holistic safety trainings to journalists, media managers, documentarians, and civil society actors.

The initiative was launched in the beginning of the Russian invasion in Ukraine in February 2022, in order to help journalists with equipment, first aid kits and knowledge on how to report from the war zones. The founders are award-winning journalists and safety trainers Katerina Sergatskova and Roman Stepanovych who have a strong expertise and experience in risk assessment and reporting from the frontline and hostile environments.
    • HUMANITARIAN HELP
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 900 recipients have received help from the 2402 Foundation. Of these, 20+ editorial offices of Ukrainian publications have been provided with bulletproof vests and helmets, and more than a hundred freelance journalists, fixers, and local producers have received protective equipment and technical equipment for working in dangerous conditions.
We provided financial support for the treatment of two injured journalists and assisted in the evacuation of several families of reporters.
    • EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
The 2402 Foundation conducts HEFAT security training for journalists working in dangerous environments. The theoretical and practical knowledge presented in the course helps save lives for yourself and the people around you in an extreme situation.
Everyone who undergoes training receives a complete tactical first aid kit and a certificate - a document trusted by sizeable international insurance companies and employers.
    • CONSULTING
We provide private consulting on risk assessment, human rights, security, digital security, and security strategy for businesses and non-profit organizations. We advise on the evacuation of journalists and/or their families from dangerous zones.
    • SAFETY CULTURE
We promote safety and mental health as basic human needs. We collect data and research on security, risk assessment, emergency behavior, and more. We develop safety recommendations for the educational direction of the 2402 Foundation, public, volunteer, and other non-profit organizations.
Our mission is to develop and support an informed society in which everyone is aware of their own safety, knows how to assess risks, navigate in dangerous conditions, and how to prevent death and save lives.

We implement the best practices in security and self-defense as basic knowledge for people in Ukraine and worldwide.
