Daily Humanity Foundation is among five winners of the Digital Democracy Initiative Hackathon organized by Metamorphosis Foundation and the Civic Literacy Initiative in partnership with CIVICUS.
The solution that won the Hackathon is an AI-powered digital risk intelligence system designed to help civil society organizations and independent media anticipate and respond to hate and disinformation campaigns. The tool is based on the Maira Labs’ risk intelligence and monitoring platform.
The solution is to provide early detection of hostile narratives, real-time risk assessment, ready-to-use crisis communication support, resilience training, and after-action guidance—so that organizations can act proactively instead of improvising under pressure.
The organizers of the Hachathon stress that the DDI Hackathon Call for Proposals generated strong interest, with a total of 61 applications received from 11 countries (Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Moldova, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Georgia, Armenia and Turkey). Daily Humanity team will participate in the International Civil Society Week 2025, a flagship event bringing together and celebrating global civil society, held on 1–5 November 2025. CIVICUS global civil society alliance and Asia Democracy Network, the co-organizers, will hold the event in Bangkok.
“The event comes at a time when civic freedoms are being curtailed in most countries, with civil society under severe attack in 116 of 198 countries and territories. The world faces significant deterrents to freedoms of expression, association, and assembly,” – organizers of the ICSW said.
Previously, the Daily Humanity team launched Maira’s Early Adopters Program – a tool that automates media and web intelligence across open and closed sources. Maira’s mission is to help businesses, analysts, and risk managers cut through the noise, turning scattered data into actionable intelligence.
