For over seven months, the 2402 Foundation has been running a campaign to save the lives of Ukrainian journalists working in war zones. During this time, more than 80 media professionals have received fully equipped first aid kits — life-saving tools that have repeatedly proven essential during the performance of their professional duties.
Each kit includes a tourniquet to stop bleeding, an occlusive dressing, an Israeli bandage, a hemostatic pill pack, medical gloves, a thermal blanket, a tamponade bandage, an eye shield, adhesive tape, and trauma scissors.
Thanks to the support of CPJ and hundreds of generous donors, over $8,000 of the $60,000 goal has already been raised to provide 400 journalists with first aid kits. We are especially grateful to media representatives, media organizations, and the public sector for actively supporting this initiative.
Journalists who have received these kits emphasize their critical importance. As Ukrainian media professionals document war crimes, report on attacks, and work under life-threatening conditions, having a high-quality first aid kit is a crucial safety measure.
“First Aid Kits for Ukrainian Journalists” reflects our collective responsibility to ensure the safety of those who provide the world with truthful information about events in Ukraine. This holiday season, the best gift is protecting the lives of Ukrainian journalists.
