Survey on Mental Health Impact on Journalists by Daily Humanity and Lauren Walsh

Journalism is a job that requires not only professionalism and endurance but also constant contact with challenging events and emotional strain. 2402 Foundation and Daily Humanity are launching an anonymous survey to help research how journalistic work affects mental health. This project was developed in collaboration with New York University Professor Lauren Walsh, who studies journalists’ work in conflict and war zones, and aims to identify issues and challenges that may affect the resilience and psychological state of journalism professionals.

What do we want to learn? Through the survey, researchers aim to obtain an honest and realistic picture of journalists’ mental health status and their needs. It’s important for them to understand what difficulties journalists face, what resources they need, and how to help reduce stress and negative consequences of professional activities. The collected data will help develop effective support programs and strategies that can provide a more sustainable and safe environment for journalists.

How to participate? If you work in media, we invite you to take the survey at:

 TAKE A SURVEY

The questionnaire will take approximately 10-15 minutes, and your responses will remain completely anonymous and confidential. The survey results will form the basis for support programs and strategies that will be available to both Ukrainian journalists and media professionals worldwide.

Why is this important? Journalists are on the information frontline daily, covering important and often tragic events that require great emotional resilience. Understanding their challenges will help increase attention to mental health in the media environment, direct resources to support and protect those who ensure citizens’ access to information. Every opinion and honest answer in this survey is a contribution to a shared future where mental health support becomes a priority.

Join and share! We ask you to share this message with colleagues so that more people can express their opinions and thus ensure diversity and inclusion. Thank you for your support, participation, and contribution to building a more resilient media environment!

Your well-being matters!
