THE 2402 FOUNDATION WILL TEACH SURVIVAL IN WAR USING VR
The 2402 Foundation launches a unique training program using virtual reality. Training that immerses participants in a real stressful situation and creates conditions for experiencing a similar experience without exposing them to danger.

These hands-on trainings focus on threats, risks, and security situations typical of those who live and work in a war environment. The VR travel content was developed by Headset Immersive and certified safety, emergency medical, and psychological first aid specialists using their experience working 24/7 on the frontline.
"We got a unique opportunity to use the most modern technologies in security training. Virtual reality, implemented in education, impresses with its innovation and fresh look at the problem. VR modules today are the most effective way to receive vital information and immediately apply it in stressful conditions," says Kateryna Sergatskova, co-founder and executive director of the 2402 Foundation.

Next year, people in Ukraine and abroad will have the opportunity to try the program personally. VR Headset modules will focus on digital security, first aid, and risk assessment.
"WE ARE CONVINCED THAT VR IS THE FUTURE IN EDUCATION. THIS IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LEVEL THAT SHOULD BE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE"
Such an approach to preparing for survival in dangerous conditions minimizes the risk that, having found himself in a critical situation in real life, a person will be confused, will not be able to control himself, and will be completely defenseless and helpless in the face of a mortal threat. The 2402 Foundation trainings focus on the development of emotional and mental resilience. VR technologies enable data-based insights into individual strengths and weaknesses, including situational awareness, decision-making, and self-control under pressure.

The first 40 participants already had the opportunity to get a unique shared life experience and see the effectiveness of such training. In July 2023, the 2402 Foundation and Headset Immersive and VICE Media held the first interactive VR training for Ukrainian journalists in Lviv. The innovativeness of the solutions, the experience and professionalism of the trainers, the strong program, and the detailed organization of the training set a new bar in preparing journalists for work in war conditions in Ukraine and beyond.
Here is what its participants say about after completing the training:

"It's not just a lecture you read today - you forgot tomorrow. It feels very similar to what we experience while working at the front, and training in such conditions, you already know what to do. And this gives tangible confidence. In virtual reality, we can experience situations that we have not yet encountered in reality and work through them. Here, you can make mistakes that won't cost the lives of colleagues or heroes of the material, analyze and correct them."

"We must understand that our work is precarious and prepare for this risk. And you can't do this while sitting in the editorial office. You must leave your comfort zone and immerse yourself in stressful conditions. This is the only way to acquire knowledge and skills that can be applied when danger threatens. Only VR makes this possible."
